Some of the retorts I've heard on this subject.. it makes me disgusted to be a human.

"It's not in my backyard, it's not my problem": I don't see how anything would get done if everyone was like this. If nobody did anything about a problem until it affected them - nothing would get done. Instead of turning the blind eye to problems of society, more people need to put themselves in somebody else's shoes.

Seriously, what would any of you, as a parent, do if your child got raped on his/her bus? What would you do if the physician fondled your daughter - or "played around" during her yearly woman-thing checkup?

"It's the parent's fault": There's all too many instances where the parents should have done better about watching what their kid is doing. Parents want to release the reins a bit as their child gets older - they trust their kid maybe just a tad too much, maybe they don't and the child is rebelling. You shouldn't try to point the finger at a singular point for blame.

Because when something horrid like this happens to you - it's like everyone else on TV - "I never thought this would happen to me, to my family" while sobbing in tears.

Many people who've never been stalked, raped, beaten, etc can't have any idea what this does to a person. When you trust somebody and have that trust thrown in your face like this, you feel defiled, worthless. You tend to have trust issues, paranoia, self-loathing. This sort of thing destroys a person.

The government is not doing enough to protect the citizens of society - instead, they release dangerous criminals because "they're human, too". We have a case going to the Supreme Court about the "uncivility" of lethal injection because it might hurt.

Jails and prisons should be deterrents from crime - not the pansy flowerhouses we have today. Heck, the local jail here just bought 2 Next-Gen gaming systems for inmates. Celebrities commit crimes and don't get punished like the rest of us. There's a sex predator who might get out of having to register because he has big money and big-time lawyers working for him.

Now, the discussion about how some jails are in much better condition than people's homes is another discussion - but when you get this sort of "it's ok that you committed a crime. We'll take care of you" attitude, you don't learn from your transgressions and mistakes - doomed to repeat them again. ((No, I'm not religious in the slightest))

Now, these crimes don't just happen to children.

thanks to you, your sound heart and mind...and for your support. It never ceases to astound me, as I've posted this subject in several forums in their religious sections....and all these Christians...blatenly ignore the subject completely or come in and make, idiotic comments as you've seen here. It just really never ceasese to amaze me....and yet, go to all there other threads and these questions...does Jesus this, and do you think God that? And I'm a Christian b/c I go to church every week...yet, no one wants to get jiggy with it and stand up for our children, and what really gets me by the inside and twists me all up, is that so many Catholics...still put their feet in that Church every week, where they know, those awful men, raped and destroyed the lives of children...how can they live with themselves? Tell, me, would you please?

I think, it's because they've never been raped or sexually abused as a child, so they don't care...as long as it doesn't effect their own little insignificant lives...hey, why care, right?

I'm sorry, but this infuriates me....and I shouldn't have even stared this thread...

I posted the first post, b/c It finally made good coverage on the news....and yet, people called it media hype and sensationalism. Well, the little girl herself stood up and talked, and told her story...of how she was tortured and raped again and again...and I'm sitting in my living room crying tears of joy for her...and for the fact that the media is finally elaborating on this subject.

And people actually come into this thread and say really dumb things, like it's the parents responsiblity....WRONG....ITS our responsiblity...every child out there is depending on it being our responsibility. And, if you disagree, as I said, try getting involved with child rape cases....who were used and sodimized over and over again...and it was being filmed...on tape for sale...and it is a very lucrative business these days...why? Because nobody cares...

It is sad...very sad....joy emanates when you do for others...otherwise, happiness, doesn't exist...b/c as long as people are suffering, and others are saying, IT's not my problem...or they're not my kids...or, it's the parents fault....well, harmony and peace, will never exist in the souls of anyone...and I don't care if you go to church, 30 times a week.

So...there...I'll get off my soap box now....God Bless the Children

I'm with Kuharai and Creambrulee on this one.....
No body is asking anybody to foot the bill on taking care of other people's children. Nobody is asking you to spend your precious time babysitting.
If you came upon a child being abused would you help them? If you saw a child get hit by a car would you come to their aid?
It's the same thing.
It is up to us as a society to have tougher law and tougher standards! Law enforcement can only do so much.
You want to blame the government? Guess what folks....WE are the government. It's up to us to band together and do what we can to get these perverts off the street. Demand it!!! Don't let the judges, who by the way are bond by the laws, just give them a slap on the wrists when they promise not to do it again. Let's change the laws!!

I'm not a fan of Hilary Clinton but when she said "It takes a village to raise a child" she was right.

Yes, it does take a villiage, exactly my premise...and why this topic was placed in the religion section...instead of the political section....

but it was moved...b/c I didn't have religion or God in the topic title...but I believe more so...we...as Christians need to make a move on this...b/c if we don't we are NOT Christians or men of God...I believe, and cry out to all the Christians of the world, to become working Christians...and move that something be done...now...and stop the henious crimes on little children.
It is inhuman...children are a gift from God...a choice of lifestyle...if we don't all protect them...who do they have? My God, I do not believe there are people out there who are constantly avoiding this subject and putting off doing what is right.

I feel, each and every minute a child is sexually attacked, that attack is on our heads as long as we sit by idle and do nothing about it....so, think of that, next time a child is sexually abused...think of it long and hard...this is not a political issue at all...this is a human issue...one of your's is suffering...and we have to protect them and put these monsters away for good. Because they cannot be rehabilitated.

I'm going to call out, to all the Christians of the world...even though, there are some that deem this a political issue...this is for the working Chistian, who wants to go to sleep at night, knowing that our children are safe and at home in their beds, just like you are...please, please, please, bring this to your churches...deem this a violation to you..understand, that we are all connected and what happens to our children, happens to us...if we don't stand by them and protect them...each and every violation is the result of us saying, they don't matter to me.

Please stress to your churches that this needs our attention Now. We have to STOP enabling these sick people to put child porn on the internet...I mean, my God....do you realize these are just children...people, please help me, please wake up and don't be afraid, take this subject to your churches and speak to your neighbors about it...have all the churches of our country get together and write our congress men.....our senetors...write them emails and send them our feelings on this subject today. If we each go out within our churches and make this attempt...then at least we're doing something, and that has to take in account of something...the media is now jumping on board...why can't we.

If I've reached one person today, then my rape as a child, will have served some positive purpose. I don't want sympathy, or words like I'm sorry this happened to you...that doesn't make it better...what makes it very positive and rejoiceful is when people react in a positive way and go forth asking for something positive to be done to help safeguard our kids....who are a gift...a joy...and they don't deserve to be violated...they cannot protect themselves...and child slavery is running amuck...and we have to stand up and say, you beast, you animal you are wrong...and you need to be put away from society, where you can no longer hurt our God given children.

Thank you
Creme

Was it her fault for divorcing him?

I FORGOT TO SAY AMEN AND BRAVO...
THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING...

EVERYTIME SOMEONE SAYS TO ME, OH, I'M SO SORRY YOU HAD TO ENDURE THE RAPE...IT REALLY GRINDS MY SOUL...I know they mean well, but I know those words only last for a few seconds, and then that person goes forth forgetting the entire issue....and it and I and all the children who have been raped, violated and beaten, are forgotten again...this subject really interfers with society's peace..and when we speak about it...I believe people pop it on the back burner b/c they feel responsible and guilty..they know everything you have said here is true....and they don't want to react in a productive way about it, b/c they really fear loosing friends, and religious cohorts b/c they've stood up and actually spoke out their true feelings....

Every so many minutes a child is raped....I ask that today, in your minds, you repeat that, no matter what your doing, or where your going....and when you go to church tomorrow, you stand up and be counted, not for yourself, but, for your children...look at their innocent faces....look around you in church...and wonder how many of those kids standing right next to you have been sexually abused...think about it....and then do something...please.

write your congressmen, get a committee going in church....ask for volenteers...and stop doing nothing...if they can ban cigerettes in public, we as a community can certainly demand our churches to speak out against child pornographers and molesters...and make it a vile offense against society...where they could face life inprisonment or worse. and maybe that will help to control their hormones.

God gave us brains to think, and the power to understand right from wrong...and if we don't use those brains from my soul to yours...we are not doing right....when we can....

Thanks
Creme

The problem with being a rape victim or a victim of incest is that families rather pretend it never happened than actually deal with it. No one knows how to deal with such problems so they deal with it the best they know how: pretending it never happened.
So if families already rather ignore this sort of problems, I find it not strange that religion (who are extended families) does the same.
