Random drug testing at work - what's the point/is it ethical? (Congress, enemy)

Simple, really. We're at war with drugs. So smoking a joint is like sleeping with the enemy. And sleeping on the job is usually grounds for getting fired. See?
The solutions are either a) don't use illegal drugs while employed with an employer who may test for the drug or b) if you're going to use illegal drugs, then don't be employed with an employer that tests for illegal drugs.
There is no real point but it's probably making someone a whole lot of money by convincing employers otherwise. I'd never be "randomly drug tested" and I don't even use drugs.
But legalization opens up a real can of worms: do you serve the Columbian with the canapes or with desert?
