They are not banned.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Even nukes are legal to own. The trick is getting the fissile material and then complying with federal regulations in storing said material.

I'm okay with flintlocks and muskets. But all federal agencies and the military have to limit themselves to using them, too. Well they can have cannons.

before the revolutionary war started, all cannon and ships with cannon on them were privately owned.

The first prototype semi-automatic firearms pre-date the 2nd ammendment by 50 years.

Private citizens owned artillery and even battleships that were conscripted into service.
