If Democrats didn't excuse their politicians like Obama for being phoneys - we wouldn't have had any of those.

Obama had Democrat control for 2 years? What did he do after campaigning against the very abuses that you outline? He kept them in place or even expanded them. The Patriot Act was renewed by Obama with Democrats in control of both houses AND they made it stronger.

So look in the mirror and stop being so hypocritical. Because Democrats cheer on Obama and ignore or excuse all of his flip flops/lies. If the Democrats had more integrity Obama would have been forced to keep his campaign promises.

Actually a great point, there was very little debate or outcry back when Bush was president, you have to believe quite a bit of racism, democratic black president, plays into the resistance, you didn't hear fraction of the criticism of for the 1994 assault weapons ban either. Also the usurping of a right to a fair trial for certain citizens.

The invasion of Iraq received less debate than gun restrictions.

I don't recall hearing calls for civil war or revolution when Patriot Act was passed or extended.

I believe all this because it was typed in red, bold letters.

Sorry what?

Let me just ask you: did you vote for GWB for a second term after he initiated the original Patriot Act?
Did you jump on that bandwagon of "patriots" who insisted if someone hadn't done anything wrong, s/he didn't have anything to worry about?

It is so beyond hypocritical for people who championed changing the name of "French Fries" to "Freedom Fries" to even be commenting about anything the current president has done.
And, believe me, it is pretty easy to figure out just who fell into that camp.

I am completely disgusted by the President's continuation of the Bush policies. But unlike many, I could see the absolute truth stated by those who noted that once that power is assumed, no one is going to give it up. Of course, we were beating our heads against a brick wall then, and all of sudden, because the opposing party in the WH, the light bulb come on. Too bad, too late.
Y'all made this bed and all of the hand-wringing and whining isn't going to remove that stain from your hands.

No. What you did hear was that anyone who objected was a traitor because only those with something to hide/who hated this country wouldn't be willing to do anything to "protect" it.

No more context then that eh? So how are we to know what are you going on about?

If you are referring to the NRA and Patriot Act, if I recall, the NRA and the ACLU both joined together to oppose the Patriot Act during Bush's first term.

Or are you making reference to the current debate on gun rights? In which case this seems to be a liberal democrat vs conservative republican issue. If you are referring to conservatives during the 2003-2005 time period, plenty of conservatives were opposed to many parts of the Patriot Act.

Where was the outcry to close Guantanamo, nonexistent.

Obama signed a bill last year for the indefinite detention of terrorism suspects without charge, and the jailing of American citizens without trial and hands over their trial to a military court, seems like an obvous violation of the 6th amendment. But even trying to restrict guns under the second amenment is grounds for civil war, seems like some are very selective over which amendments they want to defend depending on their point of view.
