I realize social media has taken the place of live relationships for a lot of people, but Good God!
Whenever they talk about it on TV, I keep thinking I've missed the main story. It makes no sense to me.
What am I missing?
Even if it was a relationship over the internet, they must have hooked up on the telephone or internet chat/video calls. I'm not following this story, but I know a relative who developed a relationship over internet chat playing an online game. It lasted for almost two years, and they finally met in person. They have been married now for four years.
Yeah I was confused at first. How does one call someone they haven't met a girlfriend? I mean he's a premier football player he can't find a real girlfriend in the flesh?

LOL All the more reason to stay away from it, which won't be hard for me to do.
That isnt even the first time something like that happened at Notre Dame, it not even the most recent. dont know if any of it is true, and i dont like placing blame before i know if its true, but that is oneof about 4 accusations about rape in the past There is also that bar fight the players got into, that videographer dying and so on.

I've heard a really good theory about how the guy might be a closeted homosexual who just made up a girlfriend to keep the guys on his team from teasing him or questioning his sexuality. Then it ended up getting bigger than expected, so he decided to 'kill her off.' When the hoax got exposed, he made something up about how he was duped by an online relationship.
The most brilliant part of the theory was how he ends up coming out, admits he made it up to avoid harassment by the team, and eventually becomes a hero for being an openly gay football player. ESPN does some short documentary on it five years later.
I love the internet sometimes...
