Republican mantra: theres no need to waste money on education, research and search for cures for deadly diseases such as cancer. What we need are more tax cuts for the rich and corporations !

It is difficult to disagree with the Dr. and author of the book. Prevention is being ignored by the mainstream medical and research sector and Cancer appears to be a major cash cow for the Pharmaceutical companies business as usual.
No. I had cancer in 1994 and it didn`t go away on it`s own.

Congrats! And likewise I survived, and recovered with little to no after-effects following treatment that was non-existent in previous years. In fact surviving has become such a common phenomenon these days, that doctors have only recently started noticing how much even that event changes folks lives!

That said, there's a growing movement advocated by some groups like Livestrong, which pharma and the research biz have so far been slow to embrace. This emphasizes integrating research, collaboration, and data sharing across various disciplines and clinical sciences, to facilitate more rapid application of research findings. Instead of the typical current approach of many individual ''siloed'' research efforts, each seeking some ''magic bullet'' or ''one-size-fits-all'' cure... uniquely their own.
