How can we set a limit on when a person is too stoned to drive, and how can we test it?
I used to work with police as a non sworn staff member and they talked about this all the time. There isn't a test so far where they can see how much you have smoked but the eyeballs react a certain way to lights when high. I do not know this to be a fact but this is what I was told. For the record ALL the officers I worked with want it legal.

Congress also consists of the House, which is majority Republicans. Democrats in the Senate have a very slim majority, besides, I haven't heard of any anti legalization efforts by the Senate Dems, so your assumptions are not based on reality
My assumptions are based off the white house web page I posted earlier in this thread which proves that the entire premise of this thread is BS like I've already told you. You can make up all the excuses you want but Obama who is the president and who has a D next to his name is against it. That is reality.

Who's talking about drug addicts? Is everyone who has a beer an alcoholic? Everyone who takes a sleeping/pain pill a drug addict?

No, they don't think that service workers are blind. They do think that if the service person wants to keep working in that house, and others, that they will keep their mouths shut and do their job. That makes life a win-win instead of a lose-lose.

Default Why?

Two things:

Why would a state keep anti-marijuana laws if they could make more money taxing it?

There has been alot of talk about federal law trumping state law (not always true, but usually true). If a state kept their laws they would eventually have a case in the Supreme Court or more likely, District Court, where the law would be thrown out.

Local governments gain more power from increased law enforcement/prison/safety funding than they would from getting more sales taxes.

Most staunch anti-drug politicians have family on police payroll and/or accept donations from corporate prisons.

I do believe it's those in charge and not the conservative people at least not all. I know many conservatives in CA that think it's time to legalize and move on...........

So true, but the savings would come not only from the sales tax, but taxes at every level, grow tax, sales tax, business tax, inspection tax, permit tax. In addition there would be the savings of not having to incarcerate people at from $20,000 to $60,000 per year, depending on the state.

Then of course when the person is released they have no job, home, or prospects, so citizens in those states are likely paying welfare to the individual, not to mention, their families.

But I get your point, as long a prosecuters can become governors (New Jersey for one) and politicians have relatives that either run private prisons, or they get money from them, or the prison guard lobby, it will be a struggle to get any progress on this issue.

I can't reconcile the hipocracy that smoking is bad for you. And anyone who smokes should be ostrasized, pay higher insurance premiums, be liable for lawsuits etc. But smoking pot is none of that. If the medical benefits of pot are that good why don't patients take it in pill form?

Sure they expect workers to be discreet and no one is exposing their secrets. HOWEVER, in some cases you wonder what they were thinking and from the looks of things, they weren't. I have heard from more than one person that they have seen personal, VERY personal, pictures left out in plain view. Or had to find a way to move very personal items that really no one should touch but the owner. And I am not talking about the used hypodermic needles that have also been left out (one customer was going through fertility treatments and didn't believe in a sharps container apparently). And yes, when someone is installing a floor or cleaning it, furniture and items on the floor have to be moved. Some of it really would skeeve you out. This stuff makes the bongs, pipes, papers, bags of weed left out look like nothing.
