Some of the responses on this thread are incredible.
This attention-seeking lunatic wants to make a point about 2nd amendment rights and in the meanwhile frighten a lot of innocent shoppers. If you were a shopper, how would anyone know he is not the next mass shooter? All of you saying with false bravado good for him, you would have been peeing your pants and fleeing if you had seen him coming your way in the store.
He's lucky he didn't cause a mad rush for the exits so that someone didn't get injured, or get shot to death by another shopper thinking they'd prevent another 26 deaths.

Total fool.
Well this is Utah, one of the most backwards States. They have voted GOP more than any other State in recent elections. Up there with Oklahoma.
So their elected leaders allow this to happen. It's a reflection of their mentality.
I find it hilarious that these people live there and don't even know their own laws, then complain when someone is exercising their right. They should move if they don't like it. If I lived there, I'd be carrying everywhere just like this guy. More power to him. IMO open carry is better than ccw.
I think that line lost power about 5 posts ago. We got it. Switzerland is somehow the holy grail because everyone can carry a gun there. Nevermind the vast, vast, vast differences between our country and theirs.
Why don't you list those vast, vast, vast differences......
It changes it a lot, Maybe not with you, but it does. Stay out of Switzerland is the only advice I can give you.
Whether it's legal or not doesn't change a damn thing. It's still just as threatening and just as nutty.
It's perfectly legal for someone to go to sit on the bench by the local daycare or elementary school all day every day and just stare at the kids (hell, it'd even be legal to do so while holding an AR15 and 500 rounds of ammo). Yet I'd find that nutty and threatening, and I'd call the cops.
It's perfectly legal for somebody to come and walk past my house on the sidewalk every 10 minutes all night while stopping to try and peer through my windows. Yet I'd find that nutty and threatening, and I'd call the cops.
That's not what I am trying to say. Since you asked so politely, I'll clarify.
1. Thread about not shooting intruders: Gun users say it is their right to shoot an intruder because experience and knowledge tells them they are up to no good.
2. Thread about man carrying AR15 into a JCPenneys, unconcealed: Those of us who are saying, based on recent events, we would be scared upon seeing this are told by gun users it's unfair to assume he has nefarious intent.
What is the difference? Why is your perception of an intruder any more valid than our perception of a gun toting man (as described in THIS thread)?
Good thoughts. However large differences in the threat matrices for these two separate situations.

Out here in the Denver area (Thornton - another Denver suburb) 9 days after the Aurora shooting, some nut though it would be a great idea to open carry at his local movie theater.
Guess what happened? People freaked out, fled the theater, and called 911. The cops came and evacuated and shut down the theater. I wonder how much money that business lost that day.

First of all it's one of the richest countries in the world and touts the highest amount of wealth per adult anywhere in the world. The quality of life in the country is consistently talked about. They are also a direct democracy, which allows people to REALLY have their voices heard. They are legally required to buy healthcare and insurance companies cannot deny coverage. Their environmental initiatives make it one of the healthiest places in the world to live. The educational system in Switzerland is lauded the world over.
So in short, in nearly every quantifiable aspect that can affect a culture, Switzerland kicks our asses and renders SourD's "argument" ineffectual.
The man harmed nobody, threatened nobody, and was cheerful and polite to everyone he met. He had no problems, and created no problems. He is exactly the kind of guy societies should have more of.
The only person with a problem, was Cindy Yorgason.
How rediculous!
So please tell me how any one would know whether this fully armed guy is harmless or just about to turn his guns on innocent Citizens?????????
This is a very good example of why we should have much stronger gun laws here and this guy is NOT what we want more of but what we want much less of.
