Additionally, how many incidents have we had where someone dresses as law enforcement or an actual law enforcement officer committed a mass shooting/murder? I can't think of any.
You might want to do a bit of research. Home intruders are doing exactly that, on an increasing basis.
Poor little Cindy. I hope if she ever needs help, she'll be left to her own devices People like her aren't worth saving.
If it's legal to carry it, carry it! It's no different than carrying a purse slung over your shoulder, and much more fashionable.
So it is your belief that we may not stop, interfere, or touch the Adam Lanza/James Holmes of the world until they not only take their weapons to public places, but begin shooting?
As long as the would be crazy person isn't shooting anyone, lets all give them lots of time to get in the right position.
Then use a better comparison because legally carrying a gun into a store to go shopping for clothes is much different than illegally breaking into someone's house. You came up with the stupid comparison not me.
Come on! Why would someone need to carry a gun, in this fashion, to go clothes shopping? You know what he was doing and I know what he was doing. You know why people would be nervous and so do I. This little dance of obtuseness is getting really old.
I would think that's pretty simple. An intruder, particularly a complete stranger in my house has no legal right to be there, and has already committed a criminal act. He has shown an intent to disredard the law and there is no reason to see him as anything but a threat. As opposed to someone committing a perfectly legal act by carrying an inanimate object around.
Are you trying to justify me shooting someone walking around the mall with an iPhone because they might get in their car and text while driving, putting my life in danger? Pretty similar anology to yours. Seems pretty stupid, doesn't it?
That analogy is not the same as mine in the least. Not at all. There is a history of people walking into public places, guns and magazines showing. They proceed to shoot and kill human beings, ok? Again, this deliberate, willful obtuseness is not only infuriating but SO unproductive. It is not beyond the realm of possibilities for someone who is carrying in such a fashion to have less than stellar reason to be doing so.
I don't hate guns and I would find someone very suspicious if they came into, say, Macy's carrying a gun slung over their shoulder! And I wouldn't wait to find out his/her intentions may be. TODAY, at this point in history, it is very unusual behavior to open carry a gun in that manner while just shopping at the mall. IMO, people who would not find this behavior unusual and therefore suspicious at this time would be people who are very "unaware" of their environment and somewhat "dull."
I am a legal gun owner myself, and i would also be suspect, this is the reality of the world we now live in.
We do not know the intentions of a person like this, it may start out to be let me make a point, and then turn into something entirely different.
We as people have to protect ourselves.
I also would be uncomfortable shopping in this kind of enviroment, and yes i am a gun owner, but responsible gun owner. The intentions of a individual, is what is suspect, and unless you know a person doing a act as this one, a person cannot be sure of what these intentions are or could lead too.
I too would not want to find out.
Look i am all for people having a right to bear arms, having had 2 wondeful family members murdered both in their own homes, way before their time.
I happen to know the reality of a thief, scumbag druggie, who breaks into a home for drug money, and surprised by the person being home, what this manic then does. He stabs him, over and over and over and over and over again, while beating the **** out of him, really going to ask me how i feel.
I know too well, those that break into your home today, most likely whether you admit it or not, will kill you or other members of your family. As the scubag who killed my cousin stated, age does not matter.
I am definitely for the rights of people to bear arms, and prtoect themselves their families, and their own homes.
But to be a respectful gun owner.
All too often it takes a tagedy as this, for someone to then say, wish i would of had a gun for protection purposes. After the criminal, druggie, scumbag, burglar, rapist murderer kills, you it is too late.
Don't ever think your safe in the privacy of your own home, your not?
Who gets those stars from you, the man with the guns, or the woman who doesn't know whether it is against the law to carry openly in Utah but is against it? I bet you are talking about the man who wants to avoid any more Sandy Hooks, at least where he is.
I find it hilarious that these people live there and don't even know their own laws, then complain when someone is exercising their right. They should move if they don't like it. If I lived there, I'd be carrying everywhere just like this guy. More power to him. IMO open carry is better than ccw.
I have always preferred open carry since I want to know who is carrying and who isn't without patting them down.

I'm obviously talking about the unhinged nut who thinks it's appropriate to haul his AR15 and a bunch of ammo magazines off to go clothing shopping at a JC Penny.
People like to act tough until they are in that situation. Their minds are so stiff and closed that they can't even have the modesty to try to truly imagine themselves in the situation. They are embellishing the line between cautious and paranoid to fit their own arguments. We aren't saying that you should eye up every person you pass and wonder if they are a potential mass murderer or not, but if something TRIGGERS you to be suspicious, then you are going to be. Seeing these self-righteous people defending this irresponsible "statement" is just turning me even more against it, and I am replacing their apparent mindset with what this man's must have been. And it's very ugly.
Been there and lots of other places where there is a significant armed-military presence. Military is compulsory in most of those places. Swiss rely on a citzen militia and most men have guns. They are no longer allowed to store ammunition in their homes. Open carry of a loaded weapon by non active military requires a permit and is not easy to acquire.
As I mentioned, the presence of armed military in Cartagena made us feel safer.
I remain fond of Israel law that prohibits anyone under 27 from owning a gun, unless they have served in the military. While I have never researched it, I suspect a majority of gun homicides in the U.S. are carried out by young men who have no military experience.
How many young Israelis have not served in the military? Do they just keep them till they are 27? They sure as hell make all young men and women serve a period of time.
