an armed guard won't stop anything. if someone wanted to shoot up the school, the school's armed guard would obviously be their first target. and he wouldn't be hard to eliminate. all the shooter has to do is walk up behind the guard and shoot him in the head. after that there's nothing to stop anyone from shooting up the rest of the school.
That is one reason it would be much preferred to have several select administration/teacher types that can handle concealed carry. A school guard is a sitting duck.
when we privatize law enforcement along with firemen, teachers and the rest. u will no longer see a 50 dollar an hour performer u will see a min wage performer.

having to train school admins and teachers to pack heat and requiring them to carry concealed firearms on them to work everyday seems a bit farfetched to me.
I think the best you could hope for is to have one gun well-hidden and locked away in the school's main office in a gunsafe. the gun could be taken out in case of emergency and only certain people would have the ability to unlock it. there's no guarantee this idea would prevent a massacre at the school but its the best you could hope for.
There is not going to be a one size fits all solution to this. One thing is certain, the "GUN FREE" zone only works to inform the attacker that he won't be confronted at all. It leaves our kids as sitting ducks.
And this is the kind of guy the NRA wants guarding your children.
