We certainly owe the children of those dead hero's an education. $30,000 will buy a degree at a small college...better some start in life than none...thanks, Rush..It takes a village to raise a child...a conservative village.
And note how people made the CHOICE to help.. No governmental program needed, no governmental policy, debate, or hand out.
No. He loves them. Dipped in ketchup with a side of fries.
noo, those were the old days, before his diet.. now he just cuts them up and feeds them to the poor.. Yet again another way Rush is helping the poor...
It would be interesting to know how much of Rush's share is an additional charitable contribution above and beyond what his accountant recommends he should donate for "tax purposes". In any case he did get an extra $2.1 Million from the letter buyer (although the guy probably will donate it to his foundation and take a charitable contribution deduction).
I used to be a financial planner... if you ever opened up the books on the mega-rich folks you would find a huge maze of deductions and exemptions... that's why they came up with the AMT (alternative minimum tax) because so many multi-millionaires were paying zero tax. Oh well, I'm sure the charity will still do a better job at spending the $$$ than our current administration would
Don't get me wrong though, I'm still glad he donated... even if it was for a tax write off it is still better than nothing!

I wondered the same. I also wondered since Rush will make his $2.1M donation to this charity, how much will he not give to his "standard" other charities that he gives to yearly.
Overall, its still only about 7% of his yearly income. I wonder what % of income the buyer is giving up..

I wish I could afford to have a "standard amount that I give to charities"... So far it consists of occasionally giving spare change to a homeless guy who does more than just ask (plays an instrument --even if poorly, etc), sending in $50 here or there to a good cause like "Heifer International" (and no, it is not a fat chicks 'mail-order-bride catalog'... it is a great charity that donates livestock to poor villages), or volunteering my time with "Hearts and Hammers" or "Habitat for Humanity". I guess we could all always do more though.
This was a brilliant move on Rush's part. Completely outflanked and outfoxed ol' Dingy Harry. Dems thought they could paint Rush as unpatriotic and "against the troops"...Ha!
He just made Reid/Pelosi etal. eat their shorts (and their words!) I love it.
Rush rocks!!!
