5 injured after firearms go off at Ohio, N.C., Indiana gun shows - CNN.com

Quote:
(CNN) -- At least five people -- three in North Carolina, one in Indiana and one in Ohio -- were injured after weapons went off at gun shows Saturday, officials said, at a time when there's been renewed discussion about private gun sales at such shows.
It's just the morons bringing loaded guns to guns shows that are not!

How ignorant gun huggers really are.

What kind of big game were people going to shoot at a gun show?
Stupid, absolutely stupid people.

Yeah, to have a loaded shotgun in a case is insanely stupid. It's the insane extreme.

But, I've heard things from the opposite side that are exactly the opposite insane extreme.

They don't know if they will file charges against the gun owner..... Why not? Maybe next time, he'll make sure it's empty before he puts it into a case to transport it. Just for that, I'm sure he's in violation. I know that laws vary from state to state, but I don't know of a state, east of the Mississippi that allows you to have a loaded weapon in a case in a vehicle. Every one I know of, it must be unloaded and in a case. In WI, don't even lean a weapon against any vehicle unless it's unloaded and in a case. Transporting a loaded weapon, in a case or not, will get very expensive, even if it doesn't go off and hurt anyone.

It still does not mean that guns are unsafe. It did nothing until a human was involved.

Is a car unsafe if you have reckless driver and they cause an accident?

The point is mr. coalman is that the gun got to the show somehow. If it was transported in a vehicle, as one city-data member already pointed out, might or would be illegal.

In my state of Wisconsin, firearms transported in a vehicle must be empty-unloaded and ammunition must be kept in a separate location.

How you roped cars and reckless drivers into this discussion I'll never understand, your post, at best, is off topic and should be removed.

In gun safety classes I ever went to, we were taught never ever to have a cartridge in the chamber mainly due to an accidental discharge potential.

Guns are safe when handled correctly, just like cars are safe when handled correctly. (this would be how cars get roped into the conversation, because they can be just as dangerous).

Just because some loser didn't ensure his gun was unloaded doesn't mean that every gun owner is irresponsible, just like some drunk drives their car and kills someone doesn't mean that ALL car owners do the same.

Perhaps there should mandatory safety training before one can actually own a gun.

But we're not discussing CARS in this thread, we're trying to discuss the irresponsibility of a gun owner transporting a LOADED firearm to a gun show, which is illegal in most states, not only that, but shows how ignorant some people can be regarding gun safety.

Secondly, why would anyone attempt to sell or show a weapon which is loaded where dozens of people walking in the vicinity, with people handling the weapon. That is an accident waiting to happen.

I agree with your comment. I also think that people should also learn what local laws are concerning the transportation of firearms.

You can sit there and find every little thing that goes wrong and every anti gun add you can find.

In the end, there were millions of guns handled and you are showing 3 incidents of the millions.

BTW you should really know your own state laws, it would help in a conversation. Let me ask you a question, NoJiveMan, you say:

Quote:

How do you carry concealed, in WI if what you say is true? here let me help ya:

http://legis.wisconsin.gov/lc/public.../IM2011_10.pdf

Again, you can cherry pic all you want, there are idiots out there, but that same day, there were millions of guns handled....

Oh, this is great...natural selection at its finest. We should let them have dynamite and grenades too.
