I see that you are paying attention. However, that (same logic) needs to include all variables. It's no secret that an incumbent president has a big advantage. Many americans are so ignorant of politics that they just go by name. (Obama is the president, so I should vote for him.) Sadly, for many it is that simple.
Note that Romney fared much better that McCain did in 2008. I believe the 2010 mid-terms pointed to the GOP gaining ground on Obama. Unfortunately for Romney that momentum wasn't enough to win the election.
Yes, I was surprised that Obama won... but, I underestimated the *idiocracy* of the American citizen.
(see the movie Idiocracy for further details.)

His administration has picked sides on these issues. I realize that all presidents do this to some degree... but, 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Default republicans best option?

Is the one they'll never take.

Jindal restated it a week ago.

Stop the the stupid.

It burns.

GOP stupidity comes in large volumes in several forms:

1. Stupid economics. Tax cuts/trickle-down/deregulation. We've already done it and it resulted in this bad recession we can't seem to shake off as well as contributing mightily to the debt/deficit you now whine about. Stop pushing it as the answer. It's the problem. It's dumb. It makes you look stupid.

2. Stop trying to keep people from voting. It's unAmerican. It causes a lot of resentment. It makes you look frightened of voters and short-sighted. And that's stupid.

3. Stop advocting for more middle east wars. The ones you already started were stupidly mismanaged by your party's leadership.

4. Stop the stupid use of taxpayer money. Spending trillions to blow up more dirt and rocks in Afghanistan and Irag was stupid and caused a lot of this debt/deficit you stupidly whine about now that the other party is trying to stop your stupidly mismanaged quagmires.

5. Stop blocking the expenditure of American taxpayer dollars on American projects designed to improve the quality of life in America. American taxpayers want to see their money used to make America better. Infrastructure projects have been neglected in favor of spending on failed middle east wars you started. And that's incredibly stupid.

6. Stop the rejection of science and embrace of mindless religious fundamentalism. It's just plain stupid on both ends.

7. Stop throwing stupid false insults and accusations at the president. It makes you look petty, small-minded, and stupid.

8. Stop supporting the culture wars. Trying to use the government to push religious-based morality on the public at large while telling the public that you're against big government is stupid.

Of course, if the GOP has become too stupid to recognize stupidity, then by all means continue to double down on all of these things that will ensure your continued shrinkage into national irrelevance.

good points, but here are some counter-points

1. Obama has done far more harm to the deficit/economy that the GOP has. If the libs policies worked then the economy would be booming by now. Raising taxes is all you've got?

2. Both sides are guilty of voter manipulation. Why don't the dems support voter ID laws?

3. The majority of Americans will agree with you... until the next terrorist attack on US soil.
There is a fine line between starting wars, and letting our guard down. There is a reason why most military members vote GOP by a 3-1 margin.
4. Hello pot, I'm kettle. Are you seriously saying that the GOP wastes too much money? BOTH parties are waaaay too guilty here.
5. I've got 2 words for you. Keystone pipeline
6. So, embracing science is ok, but embracing religion is not? Did you know that 42.7% of all statistics are just made up on the spot?
7. Maybe... but this is nothing new, and both parties do it... remember GW Bush?
8. In the US we have freedom of religion. You say to stop supporting the culture wars... but it's ok to bash religion? You can't have it both ways (see your point #6) People need to know where a candidate and/or party stands on these issues.

47% vs 46%, picking up just the 2 easiest GOP states is much better.

Pleas evaluate the 2013 Mets, I'm a fan, want an easy grader.

Yes, and since then many other laws have arisen to protect black people. My point was that laws are changeable and adaptable for the good of American citizens. Your point is...?
