I don't have a side and I certainly don't believe any of the BS you just posted, I'm still a lot more concerned with the idiots who believe that Obama will help or save them than any old lady who is praying in her home.

You wouldn't be Dick Morris? Because one would think that the detractors of scientific polls would have learned their lesson in the debacle of the 2012 elections.

Everybody who wants to be a little more patriotic, learn a little more about geology, astronomy, paleontology, and evolutionary biology if you've got the time. America needs you. She's being besieged by ignorant people.

People want dragons to slay...unthinking monsters to destroy. Too often, these monsters turn out to be people with families of their own. Even Westborough Baptist church might be little more than a group of bored, bigoted, hateful persons who bleed when cut like everyone else.

Young earth creationism doesn't feel though. It can be that dragon people want to slay. Go forth and kick it's arse without restraint...through research.

There's a good article about the unique problems Americans have in accepting evolution here:

SCIENCE, RELIGION, AND SOCIETY: THE PROBLEM OF EVOLUTION IN AMERICA - Coyne - 2012 - Evolution - Wiley Online Library

To quote:
"A survey of 33 European countries and Japan, asked whether the residents agreed with, disagreed with, or were unsure of the statement, “Human beings, as we know them today, developed from an earlier species of animals.” Americans ranked next to lowest, showing 40% agreement, 39% disagreement, and 21% uncertainty. Only Turkey fell below us, with figures of 27%, 22%, and 52%, respectively. In contrast, countries such as Iceland, Denmark, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany all showed more than 70% agreement. "

There's also a good free course on genetics and evolution offered by Duke University on coursera.org . I am taking it right now.

Yes but those Democrats did elect someone who was worried that Guam was going to tip over and another person who said we have to pass a bill in order to see what is in it and unemployment benefits are good for the economy, and an entire state Senate who think fleeing across the border is a proper way to execute their legislative responsibilities. So don't act like Republicans have a monopoly on crazy ideas.

No ****ing wonder we're starting to fall behind the likes of India and China in the scientific and engineering fields. I really do wonder about the future of this country....

According to the article I cited,

"Creationism is a symptom of religion...and recent sociological surveys show that religion is highly correlated with the dysfunctionality of a society, and various measures of societal health show that the United States is one of the most socially dysfunctional First World countries. Widespread acceptance of evolution in America, then, may have to await profound social change."

The far right wants to put more God into everything...maybe the answer would be less God.
