Don’t Be Surprised the U.S. is Shipping F-16s to Mohammed Morsi’s Egypt as Scheduled

Four F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. this morning [yesterday], bound for Egypt as part of a foreign aid package critics say should have been scrapped when the nation elected a president who has called President Obama a liar and urged that hatred of Jews be instilled in children.

A source who works on the naval air base in Fort Worth, Texas, confirmed the departure of the state-of-the-art fighter planes to FoxNews.com. Sixteen F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks are to be given to the Egyptian government before the end of the year under a foreign aid deal signed in 2010 with then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a longtime U.S. ally.

Egypt has been receiving about $1.3 billion a year in military aid since 1979, and more than $50 billion in U.S. dollars since 1975.

This funding should end immediately - and not just because they are part of the Muslim Brotherhood, but because we are broke as a country.

The total number of F-16s will be 20 that will make them superior to Israel but they will still have to use Egyptian pilots that aren't close to even with Israelis.

This funding should certainly end as soon as possible but who was it who was most excited about the Arab Spring when Mubarrak was thrown out and then Morsi the head man in the Muslim Brotherhood was installed as "President". There is no good reason for these transfers of war weapons other than hope Israel will be destroyed by them.

Don't you just love it? We armed Bin Laden, Saddam... Not Egypt.

How long until we classify that country as our enemy and invade it under the pretense of bringing them democracy?

It just shows that Obama is still a "closet commie" when you get right down to it. Nothing new here.

Hopefully we were smart enough to put in a few little software updates before giving these weapons to a country controlled by Muslim extremists. One that will say disable the engines upon receipt of a specific radio signal. Or perhaps put the planes in an uncontrollable dive.

I forget which recent presidential candidate stated that we should stop all foreign aid, including aid to Israel. All I remember is that his foreign policy was criticized and he was called a kook.

The name escapes me

Watching too much battlestar galactica have you? Kill switches don't exist. It's too risky when there are hackers out there.

There's a very good reason. We (and Israel) have a treaty with them, and so far, at least, they haven't broken it.

Has anyone in the Obama administration given a reason why Egypt needs F-16 jets and M1A tanks?
We give them billions. They buy weapons with our money. [no cost to them] And I'll bet it's a 20 year payback plan with a very low interest rate.
