When I was young I had my wisdom teeth pulled out. They hooked me up to an IV, put something over my face and in 2 seconds was out. I remember immediately falling asleep.
Why can''t that same procedure be applied with assisted suicide?
I am pro-assisted suicide. I believe your life is your own and suicide should be legal. I recognize that a person's suicide is likely to cause disruption and hurt to those around them and I do feel bad about that but I think it is a greater injustice for society to force someone to live who does not want to live. Deciding when you wish to end your life I think is a logical extension of being a free individual.
I'm 100% pro choice when it comes to abortion, assisted suicide or just plain old kill yourself by jumping off of a bridge suicide. It's your life, you should be able to do with it as you like and in the case of abortion, if you're of the mindset that killing your child is a viable option I surely don't want to force you to raise one.
I just spent a few days watching my uncle die. He was at the end stage of cancer and they sent him home and doped him right up. He wasn't in pain, but my aunt got to freak out for three days watching his body try to die. It was not pleasant and it made her suffer. In my opinion, the humane thing to do would be to allow people in this state the option of euthanasia, so they can choose to die clear-headed, surrounded by family, and avoid prolonging the suffering of all involved.
While I would normally agree, I don't even mind us spending a few tax dollars mopping up the aftermath because it gives someone a job for a couple hours and we're still saving thousands of dollars over supporting their crazy ass for decades. Just make sure you cut down the tracks, not across.
