That doesn't mean the planet is yours for eternity. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn't. Politics are cyclical but America is not.

Look whose voting, you think those people will ever align themselves with a party that wants nothing to do with their freedoms. The LGBT's, the Latinos, the Asians, the women, the youth. America is a fast evolving place socially & demographically and what conservative is going to battle for social reforms for these people? You have your senior citizen white guys, we have everyone else.

If conservatives like that do exist, they're hidden so beneath the ugly exteriors of the GOP party that they cant do anything about it. Your far right party wouldn't even support him or her-- and that's an automatic loss.

Social freedoms are a bigger issue now than before, all those GOP candidates you listed had different but prominent things on their platform to get into the White House. We look to Europe, a country like France-- we're becoming more socially tolerant and liberal and it wont be a cycle in reverse anytime soon, if ever.

The republican landslide was hardly historic; the democrats lost a house, but it wasn't a landslide. It was typical. The party in power typically loses ground during mid-terms. The republicans could have taken the senate but did not, and meanwhile the democrats have gradually been making significant progress in statewide elections, which is a bad, bad sign for republicans. In California, the entire government is democratic. In Wisconsin and Ohio, those states are seriously p.o.'d at republicans. The republican brand is limited, and it mainly appeals to whites. And the bad news for the GOP is that the demographic trends don't favor them. Until they start coming up with real ideas, it's going to get screwed...and it won't feel good.

That's not an issue of party, that's an issue of ideology. Party is just a label. Maryland could have 50 "parties" and would still be controlled by moonbats.

If anything they'd be better off. People may actually look into the candidates instead of just voting for the Democrat.

Yeah, whenever the GOP makes these bargains with the Devil (aka, the extremists), they always end up being short term gains that ultimately end up putting 'em even deeper in the political hole! Somehow it all kinda reminds me of that bit of vampire lore that you first have to invite a vampire in, for him or her to pass thru the threshold of your house and have any power over you! And for years now, the GOP has been welcoming in all the denizens of the dark ''underworld'' with open arms. But good luck getting rid of them now!

That is true, and also very healthy. Racist elements have existed previously (Wallace, David Duke, Strom Thurmond), and each time they soon found out their ceiling was far short of what they desired.

Today is the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. The party that will die is the Democratic Party because they are murdering so many of their babies. Republicans will be just fine.

Most Americans are pro-choice. Most Republicans think abortion should be illegal. Not a good position for future electoral success.

There will not be a 1 party system. Many people may see Progressives as a subset of Liberals but the 2 groups do see many issues very differently. If the Republican party ever "died" then you would see the rise of a split Democratic Party.
