Connecticut’s two U.S. senators are joining forces with California Sen. Dianne Feinstein and other key senators, proposing a retooled federal ban on assault weapons in the wake of the deadly Newtown school shooting.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the proposed legislation, to be unveiled Thursday in Washington, D.C., will more narrowly define what’s considered an assault weapon under a resurrected ban. The bill, he said, will also prohibit high-capacity magazines, limiting them to a capacity of up to nine rounds of ammunition.
in 2007 323 people were killed by rifles. ALL Rifles. both fake assault weapons and others like deer hunting rifles and .22 rifles.
that same year 19000+ people died from ingesting poison. Seriously people the Assault Weapons ban that we had did NOTHING. any new one will do NOTHING except further erode a natural right protected by the Constitution.
...limiting them to a capacity of up to nine rounds of ammunition.
That's interesting. It will outlaw virtually every small bore semi-auto rifle out there, or at least their standard magazines. Even the ole' Ruger 10/22 comes stock with a 10 round mag.

Big flippin' deal, so 'ya gotta reload more often..... ''Oh, the sky is falling!!'' (followed by all the usual name-calling, cursing, and gnashing of teeth)!!

Maybe you should go back to posting from a Commodore 64, or better yet write a letter with a quill pen to the editor of a newspaper printed on Ben Franklin's press.
In other words, you have no business telling any law-abiding citizen how many bullets their firearms magazine holds.
Maybe we ought to change the law so that the only identification necessary to purchase a gun is a voter registration card.
