Yup, the Senate hasn't passed a budget in . . . . how many years? So what? Let's put some facts on the table:
1) The budget is a non-binding resolution. The Houses passes one. The Senate passes another bearing little resemblance to that of the House, and that's where the process ends.
2) It is not signed by the president. It therefore has no legal impact.
3) It didn't exist before 1974. Somehow the nation survived.
4) That numerous governmental agencies are operating on continuing resolutions has nothing--zip--zero--nada to do with the lack of a budget. They are operating on continuing resolutions because Congress did not enact an annual appropriation bill for that agency, something totally disconnected from the so-called budget.
So, to be clear, Republicans' grousing about the lack of a budget and pretending that somehow the nation's budget operates along the same logic as a household budget either reflects massive ignorance on their part or their pandering to ignorance on our part.
