No, Shay's Rebellion proved that when farmers don't see a profit for 31 years, they get filled with angst.

I'm guessing you aren't aware that one reason the farmers were angry, is that after 17 years of drought and recession and not seeing anything that even remotely looks like a profit -- while being taxed to death, the farmers all too gladly sold their crops to the Continental Congress on credit.

Then the Continental Congress defaulted and under the new government of the AOC, no one wanted to take responsibility for the debts and pay the farmers what they were justly owed.

Technically speaking, the Congress of the Articles would have legally inherited the debts of the Continental Congress, since it was the successor.

I mention that because in order for the US to be like Somalia, a similar chain of events would have to occur. But thanks for being over emotional.

I'm a federalist.

The only two structures suitable for the US are the federation and confederation. The unitary system that the Left is so desperately trying to force on people will fail and destroy the US for whatever it was.

There have been many changes, most of all in communications. Communications is not just telephones, it's canals, inter-coastal waterways, railroad lines, highways, the postal system and many other things. The communications system in the US is now very well developed and has been for some time, say about 80 years or so. The point being with such a well-developed communications system, a confederation would work much better now that it could have in the past.

Structurally...

Mircea

No, it does not.

The Feds under the Obama Administration are attempting to consolidate their power and demonize those who oppose their leftist ideology.
This has nothing to do with the Obama Administration.

Shays rebellion is what happens when the federal government has to go around with a tin cup to raise money for the army. South Carolina and Georgia were not at all interested in paying money to supress a rebellion in Massachusetts. In fact no states were interested in giving money to the federal government for much of anything.

The significance of Shays rebellion as opposed to later rebellions of angry farmers such as the whiskey rebellion is that Shaysites came very close to seizing the arsennel at Springfield which would have put them in a position to overthrow the government of Massachusetts, or at least throw out the government in Western Massachusetts. That sort of crap did not happen after the Constitution because the central government actually had power to raise revenues for an army.

The Somalia comparison was simple to demonstrate a point that you cannot have a functioning country when a few armed men have the power to take chunks out of the country, which is what almost happened in Shays rebellion, and why the founders rightfully abandoned the AOC.

No, in reality he was talking about the very real and actually happening danger of right wing domestic terrorism of which we have thousands of violent examples each and every single year. I'm sorry the truth upsets you and you feel the need to lie about what the paper actually said but he's still factually correct even if you don't like it.
