The only way to correct the budget problem is to cull the herd an cut off programs to people who are not contributing anyway. When the Titanic was going down, only the best people were saved.

You know Omnibus Spending Bills and Continuing Resolutions are not Budget plans, right?

When Congress does not or cannot produce separate bills in a timely fashion (by the beginning of the fiscal year on October 1), it will roll many of the separate appropriations bills into one omnibus spending bill. Some of the reasons that Congress might not complete all the separate bills include partisan disagreement, disagreement amongst members of the same political party, and too much work on other bills.

Often, omnibus spending bills are criticized for being full of pork (unnecessary/wasteful spending that pleases constituents or special interest groups.) The bills regularly stretch to more than 1,000 pages. Nevertheless, such bills have grown more common in recent years.

Part of the problem is not only gov't spending, but the lack of revenue/tax too.

Nu republicant mantra is "F-you, I got mine"
And, to the point of redundancy, Red State ideology determines those states are the ones who require the most "obama-socialist" handouts. Go figure.

What the low-browed, FOXchugging knuckle draggers dont understand on a more abstract level, is that all tiers of society get their handouts. Spoilt entitlement kids like Ryan got his . . . WAL*STREET'rs get theirs fo sho, and poor people have safety nets that apply to them. Why do repubs obsess on the entitlements for the have-nots, and not the people who dont need them? Sadly ironic, a huge percentage of repub voters are more likely to be in state that requires the obamaphone-kenyan-socialist-kommie handout and actually votes for the party that wants to take it away. Red Staters need to be reminded if their entitlements go, less money for ammo and WAL*MART
