Senator John Kerry was nominated by Obama to be the next Secretary of State and is currently in the process of being confirmed by the Senate. The first white male to hold the office in 16 years. Should his traitorous acts from the 1970s exclude him from this role of representing the US?

Photograph of John Kerry meeting with Comrade Do Muoi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in Vietnam. The photograph is displayed in the War Remnants Museum (formerly the "War Crimes Museum") in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The English-language placard below the photograph reads: "Mr. Do Muoi, Secretary General of the Vietnam Communist Party met with Congressmen and Veterans Delegation in Vietnam (July 15-18, 1993).

Senator Kerry was 'honored' by the communist Vietnamese for his contributions to their war effort against the US during the 1970s. As Secretary of State he will be able to side with our enemies and oppose our allies.
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court. --- Article III, Section 3, Clause 1 of the US Constitution

Ah, sorry pal but any American who did what they could do to get the country out of that horrible USA destroying war is a HERO. As a 20 something during that time I really did not think the USA was going to survive the madness.

That is from 1993 and the Vietnam War for America was over in 1973.....do you see a difference, yet? I believe Reagan met with Gorbachev, too, during the Cold War. Heck, they may have even shook hands.

Kerry met with representatives from Vietnam in Paris in 1970, according to Kerry’s own testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on April 22, 1971. Kerry’s meetings with the Vietnamese delegation were in direct violation of the law (18 USC 953) forbidding private citizens from negotiating with foreign powers.

The photograph in the Vietnamese War Remnants Museum demonstrates that he did indeed adhere to our enemies and provided material aid and comfort.

Swift Boat is alive and well. Shameful. But exactly what one would expect from the party that routinely vilifies war heroes . Max Cleland, anyone? Tammy Baldwin?

No, it doesn't. He went there by the orders of Pres.Clinton to push for more cooperation in the POW/MIA situation. The picture doesn't mention him being honored for any anti-war activities and it doesn't even mention his name. You're wrong, but that is per usual. You're welcome for the education.....all I ask is for you to pass it on.

Traitors welcome, tax cheats, former 'most wanted' terrorists and communists have found a home in the Obama administration. A lying obama asked to be judged by the people he surrounds himself with and we have done so.

While I'll agree John Kerry is no criminal and served his country. His "hero" status is questionable, at best. Personally, while I don't agree with much of his politics, I do agree he will do a good job as Secretary of State.

I don't think you understand what treason actually means.

Let me tell you what treason DOES NOT MEAN:

(1) Treason does not mean, "the acts of someone whose politics I don't like"
(2) Treason does not mean, "the act of someone talking to a nation I don't like"
(3) Treason does not mean, "the act of being received by a country whose politics you don't like"

If it did, you'd have to start by calling Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan two wild and crazy treasonous *****holes.
