Domestic surveillance is constantly increasing. In and of itself there is nothing wrong with surveillance...

Except for a few major things:

Surveillance costs money. The systems in place today could be abused by politicians when they become financially vested in them

A high surveillance network could easily be abused by a rogue politician for their own gain, just because it's there

Many methods of surveillance (like airport security) slow things down

People seem to be okay with spying but that's only because we have enemies. However the said enemies are due to our own failures

I was one of the people who voted for Obama because I thought democrats would repeal the patriot act.

Unfortunately I was wrong. I wish there was a party out there that doesn't think their own country men need to be filtered for terrorism.
