King always had his little prejudices and pre conceived opinions which filter into his works. He's got a thing about religion which is okay, its his right. It didn't always work and sometimes it made his writing a little stiff and tired but nobody's perfect.
He's kind of frustrating as a writer. He still has brief brushes with inspiration now and again which shines through parts of his work but he just can't seem to keep it together long enough to make a truly good story.
I guess his last good ones wereThe Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption. And even then, the screen adaptations were better than the books.

In King's books - there are killer cars (Christine) and killer supernatural powers (Carrie, Firestarter).

Better ban people with telekinesis, ability to immolate whatever they see, and ban cars while we are at it!
