It's really not as though these women and girls don't know where babies come from. They also know the very easiest way to get on welfare handouts and live the easy life never having to worry about working for a living is to have babies. They're very educated about the welfare handouts babies bring. That's the problem. If they don't have babies, they might have to get out working, putting up with bosses, customers, low wages -- have babies and they live a very comfortable lifestyle.

Plus it's the easiest way into the USA when you have no education or jobs skills.

Illegals do not qualify for medicaid in New Mexico, only citizens do.
These are births paid for by medicaid so the mother has to be a citizen.

Who do you think is paying for the births of illegal immigrant mothers in this country as a whole?

Easy enough to say but in many instances they've got nothing else. No prospects for jobs, no reason to think that their lives would, could or should be different than their mother's, grand-mother's, great-grandmother's and so on.
Hard to believe I know, but, there are still lots of places in this country where traditional female roles appear to be hard-wired into the population. Girls have babies. It's what they do. It's what they've always done.

Oh we're paying alright but in NM medicaid paid for births are happening with citizens.
The illegals are another story along with another pile of money we have to fork over to someone.

Not so solidly. I expect that Gov. Martinez will be re-elected should she decide to run again.

And the numbers are only going up. Texas is not far behind with 6 in 10 births paid for by medicaid.
Not enough.

There needs to be education and not about how sex is done, the sperm and the ovum, etc. There needs to be education about:

The gigantic cost of raising a child
The drawbacks for the MOTHER in having children, or too many children (ways in which it will set her back)
The positives (including what options for getting ahead) the MOTHER
Discussions with women who have gone through this, and how it proved detrimental.
The problems inherent in raising a child in poverty
The result (for the child) of raising a child in poverty
How men are usually NOT there for helping to raise the child.

That's not being taught in schools.

I'm with you 100%. Teaching how awful it will be for the mother if she has kids when she cannot afford it, is clearly not enough. There need to be programs (educational, for ex.) providing options for the mother, not just how to adopt and that stuff, but what the mother can do to get ahead IF she doesn't have a child.

There needs to be women out communities who understand that the "typical role" of women pumping out children is detrimental to the mother, and that "making a man proud" or "getting a man" or "keeping a man" by having his child, has a horrific payoff and how it never works that way anyway.

It's a super-complex issue, you're so right.
