Nobody is denying that global warming/climate change is happening. What we're skeptical of is how much of an effect humans are having. Our planet went through warming and cooling cycles long before humans were a factor; it's a natural event. Trying to extrapolate future climate trends from a sliver of data in which humans have been a factor is questionable at best.

Both the GW denier side and the GW activist side have interests in this issue. Big oil obviously wants to keep cars running on gas as long as they can. Green energy also has a huge financial interest in global warming being accepted as fact, which allows billions of dollars to be poured into green energy initiatives and startups. Billions have vanished in the past few years as defunct solar companies supported by government grants (and closely tied to members of this administration) have closed up shop and walked off with huge sums of taxpayer dollars. However, since they're portrayed as progressive, concerned companies looking out for the planet's best interest, these incidents are immune to criticism.
You are a reasonable voice on this thread.

No?

No doubt. And a volcano erupting makes you feel toasty warm just before the lava hits you and turns you into a dessicated image of what you used to be. As I said, you are completely ignorant of anything associated with ecological systems, of that there is no doubt.

I state that if things were slightly warmer there would be benefits to that and you go off about volcano's?

Not to mention, a correlation between global warming and formerly glacier-covered land masses as being "more hospitable" for humans is freaking absurd, to put it politely.

This isn't about a climate adaptive to human needs, it's about the health of the damn planet.

Yes, what seems like a positive, and you sit around thinking is a positive, is not going to be a positive eventually. But it sure seems like a positive for a while.

Well nice rambling as that is all it is. It is said by those promoting that AGW is real and has happened that it is warmer today than to pick a random time frame, 20 years ago.

So to reiterate, the climate is warmer today than a couple decades ago. Where is the devastation?

climate change is not fear mongering. its a well documented fact. deciding who is to blame is fear mongering but that is a national pastime and not limited to the weather.
