Palin, like a lot of Republicans these days, will be trying to reinvent herself as a reasonable centrist. She might pull it off.

I think she would let her pettiness and her vindictiveness always get in the way of her being reasonable.
I also don't think she has the ability to let perceived past grievances go and that she will always have a "hit list" of people she thinks did her wrong.

In reality he was trying to sneak past the British troops and patrols so he wasn't "ringing any bells" or "firing any warning shots".
When he was captured he exaggarated the size of the colonial forces that the British would be facing. According to your source this constitutes "warning the British." Certainly a stretch of epic proportions.
