Don't kid yourself. They're political extremists who only care about getting 'theirs.' Punnish their states, and let the residents toss their a s s e s out at the next election.

GOP policies favor the elite, who only care about maintaining their privileged tax status. They don't care about helping their fellow Americans. The rich can afford to pay for their own repairs and don't care about the riff-raff.

Economist Joseph Stiglitz pointed this out:
Quote:
The more divided a society becomes in terms of wealth, the more reluctant the wealthy become to spend money on common needs. The rich don’t need to rely on government for parks or education or medical care or personal security—they can buy all these things for themselves. In the process, they become more distant from ordinary people, losing whatever empathy they may once have had.
They call this country "The United States of America." That's because we stick together and realize that we are stronger working together and helping each other out when some are down, instead of acting as miserly individual states.

We don't greedily hang onto our own gold and tell those in distress that they are on their own.

Expansion of the Head Start program in NY and NJ with part of that money going to HHS who can give it to other states if it's for substance abuse programs, a new roof for the Smithsonian (which needed a new roof before Sandy), Federal Highway money for projects in Guam and American Samoa, money to NASA for some new satellites, every agency put in for administrative recoupment of salaries and expenses, new cars, HUD for building more Section 8 housing, money to the military for ammunition, funds for Tribal clean water, funds for the Nuclear Detection Office to buy something (just listed as acquisition funds, not repair), Veteran's Affairs to plan, design a new medical facility, Amtrak gets an "operating subsidy grant".

Every government agency including all branches of the military are getting reimbursed for administrative expenses.
I actually wonder how much of it will be left for NY and NJ after the Fed agencies finish taking what they want.

And there's a whole list of amendments that I haven't even touched.

Plus very little of the spending is for this year. Half is for the year 2015.

yet even though republicans make less than dems, republicans donate more money to charities. Dems are selfish and do not know the facts.

Yes lets quote someone who doesn't believe in the constitution and states rights.

Of course not, the greedy dems refuse to spend their money for your own causes but order others to spend money for dems causes. Selfish greedy scumbags.
That was an easy one, any more things you want to make up?

On this issue alone, all these senator have my deepest respect. The failure of the NJ residents and government to not obtain insurance, be self-sufficient and then slam/cut their own unions for budget on the backs of teachers/police/fire/ems to balance the state budget (convenient for you then Gov), then turn around and ask the broke people of America for a bailout in the sum of $50 billion dollars is obscene and a slap in the face.

Sorry Gov. Porky, we don't want to pay for your failure of leadership, the people of NJ who willingly tax themselves to death and have no money to pay for their own problems get zero sympathy from me. You choose to live on the coastline, you didn't get insurance to protect the properties and infrastructure then you cry to the taxpayers when the obvious happens. I will sell you some common sense for $20 billion, it a lot cheaper next time.

These Senators are true patriots, this is what you call "Financial responsibility" (although they fail on other legislation) in this instance.

I assume it is because the Dems probably threw in a bunch of unnecessary, wasteful pork, as usual. So who's fault is it, really?

That cannot be determined based off of an assumption that you make.

This is never going to help either. Pork is a bipartisan problem.

It's been the modus operandi for well over a century, now people are surprised???

You are displaying how little you know about the subject. FEMA runs the flood insurance program.

Why don't we use that same 'self-sufficient' argument the next time Republican Texas has a Texas has tornadoes, Louisiana or Florida has hurricanes, or Alaska has a tsunami?
