He should have gone to prison for hiring his illegal immigrant sex offender intern. These allegation, if true, are just the icing on the cake for this guy.
Oh ok, didn't read the whole thing. Well this is not something to play around with, to point a finger at someone and falsely accuse someone of a heinous crime is dangerous and horrible. No one should even play around with this just to prove a point or put a blight on someone's name. Just wrong.
Here: Look at this (the hookers words from the link): "That senator also likes the youngest and newest girls,” the woman wrote on April 21, 2002"
That senator....in 2002.......Hmmmmm..... Bob Mendez did not become a Senator until 2006, so how could she refer to him as "senator" in 2002?
Sounds like he'll be in deep $hit soon. But this is not a reason to dismiss the immigration reform work he has done with Schumer, McCain and the rest.
The BS mantra from the Right about closing the borders first before going forward with reform is also nonsense. The border has never been so secure. Just standard obstructionism from Republicans again.
Don't make me laugh. Aren't drugs still entering this country through that "never been so secure" border? And, almost half of illegal aliens are visa overstays. DHS has no idea if or when people leave. How on earth can they pass CIR without first correcting this problem?
Quote:
Roughly 40 percent of illegal immigrants in the United States simply overstayed their legal visas once they are in the country, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has limited resources to identify and remove these overstays, congressional investigators reported Tuesday.
Five of the 19 hijackers responsible for carrying out the 9/11 terrorist attacks overstayed their visas, noted Sens. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), committee chair, and Susan Collins (R-Maine), its ranking member. In addition, GAO reported that 36 of about 400 terrorists convicted by the United States since 9/11 had overstayed their visas to remain in the country.
The reality is that US-VISIT remains a very troubled and ineffective program.
"Identifying individuals who overstay is a crucial component of securing our borders, and it is simply unacceptable that we are still unable to systematically identify people who overstay -- some of whom may be terrorists waiting to attack innocent Americans. I am asking Secretary [Janet] Napolitano to update the committee on current efforts within the Department to close this dangerous vulnerability," he added.

Ah yes, he should go to prison for a guy who interned at his office for two months that he more than likely had nothing to do with hiring him, that was a mistake on the hiring agent in his office. And not really grounds for imprisonment, but I get it you are still sore that he crushed the Republican during the election.
Obviously, all rational people, conservative or liberal, will want this Senator to be removed from office should the charges be proven.
However, being a True American, I do not advocate punishment before conviction. That all Americans are presumed innocent before a court of law is a bedrock foundation of our Constitution.
I note that the senator has denied the allegations:
However, all that being said, I would certainly hesitate before allowing this person to be left alone around any of my younger female relatives. There is jurisprudence, and then there is prudence.
Would someone be a dear and compare the names of right-wingers in this thread labeling this man guilty prior to adjudication then compare those names to ones who demanded we not offer judgments on the fine Mr. Zimmerman prior to adjudication? I have a feeling it could be quite comical.
Proof that can hold up in a court room and have the defendant either found innocent or guilty, till then in America he is still innocent until proven guilty....unless you are anti American and don't believe in the American system.
No, that's not what I said. It wouldn't matter if the teenager was a prostitute or not. Consensual sex with a 16 or 17 year old is not "child molestation."
In most of the US, consensual sex with a 16 year old is called "legal." Here in Colorado it's called "a misdemeanor."
