This is not journalism, not even in the remotest sense of the word. This is sheer propaganda.

MSNBC, NBC, CBS, and ABC are propaganda shills for the anti-American Democratic Party. To associate them with journalism demeans real journalists.

I'm not surprised that you have no problem with the deceptive editing.
Father asked his question.
He paused.
Then he was heckled.

MSNBC took out the long pause.

That's legitimate editing. I'm not surprised that because it was done by MSNBC you falsely classify it as deceptive.

The strangest part is that they didn't offer the whole "performance". The 3 or 4 minutes before the breaking point was more of the same thing over and over and the "pro-gunners" didn't reply. Finally he forced them to do something. The whole thing is totally different when taken in context with his whole "show".

Journalism is an absolute farce in this country
I see that you may have seen my thread about this where the leaners worked so hard to steal the thread as an anti-Fox thread. They did the normal leaner trick of talking about Fox with nothing thrown in about MSNBC.

Maybe if you saw the whole thing and knew how many times he said those words without any reply you could understand what MSNBC was being accused of. He said that more times than just one or two and then after nobody said anything the last time he intimated that they had no answers. I say he forced them to do something with the way he talked.

Legitimate editing?

The footage portrays the father not as posing a question to those seated behind him, but as making a point to the council in front of him and being "heckled" for it. That clearly is not what occurred during this conference--MSNBC edited the footage and packaged it as an addition of insult to injury for the father.

Why?

To expand a demonization campaign.

Got any more thoughtful excuses, Jill?

Stop making things up. The edited footage clearly shows the father asking the question with his head TURNED TO HIS LEFT, not looking straight ahead and simply addressing the council.

And he WAS heckled.

You know how we know that for a fact?

The council REPRIMANDED the gallery for speaking OUT OF TURN.

MSNBC did not misrepresent what happened in that room.

Your misinterpretation of it is not based on facts, but your blind hatred of anything left of wing nut.

I would propose that there are people on this thread that clearly don't know the definition of the word "heckle". To heckle means to harass, no one can say this man was harassed. The most deceptive part of this piece was the intro to it where the msnbc anchor said that during the gentleman's testimony that he was heckled by 2nd amendment supporters. That is how you know that it was purposely edited to discredit gun owners.

Neil Heslin: I ask if there's anybody in this room that can give me one reason or challenge this question: Why anybody in this room [my emphasis] needs to have one of these assault-style weapons or military weapons or high-capacity clips.

[pauses, gazes to his left (the council was seated in front of him) and waits for a response from any direction]

Heslin answers himself: Not one person can answer that question.

Hooray, the sentiments of the vulnerable grieving parent stand unchallenged! Take the guns!

Wait a minute--three(?) members of the audience throw the words "Second Amendment shall not be infringed" into the mix, and are asked (not formally reprimanded or even removed from the hearing) to hold their comments. Neil Heslin himself briefly engages those seated behind him and expresses to the council that he respects the opinions of others.

Aside from your darling media schills, not one reasonable person amongst the human population (in fairness, this would exclude MSNBC's audience) would try to portray Heslin as a victim of incivility.

And speaking of "wignut," what did Maddow have to say tonight?
