Those numbers are ludicrous.

They might be credible in a place like NYC, but out here in the real world, garbagemen make about 40k a year, not 75k.

And deputy sheriffs in my county top out at about 50k. The damn sheriff himself doesn't even make 100k.
Of course location is everything. A worker maybe earning more money in nyc but the cost of living balances that out. This whole thread is a disingenuous, insulting simplistic look at what people earn.

Look at the premise by the OP:

In fact, with these wages, and when personal responsibility is factored into the equation, there's absolutely no reason for single-parent families, children born out of wedlock, Medicaid, WIC, Welfare, or Food Stamps.
It's laughable how out of touch with reality these people are.... but really I think these people are so full of themselves they think their sh*t don't stink.

So Obama = all liberals!?!?!?!

Also, then by your logic if one republican raised taxes on corporations then your whole theory is blown away.

Update: Oh and why didn't you mention that Obama was raising taxes on corporations and wealthy.... your title is a little purposefully misleading. Glad I took the time to look over the article.

The AVERAGE worker makes $49,462 per year and yet we have liberals belly-aching over minimum wage and people barely able to make ends meet???? Who's fault is that?!

Get off your lazy asses and DO SOMETHING with your unproductive lives! There's money to be made out there!

Employment, Hours, and Earnings from the Current Employment Statistics survey (National) Home Page
As Wiston Churchill said, "There are lies, there are damn lies and then there are statistics"
Average wage means less than nothing.

The top lawyer in the firm my son works at bills at $1000 per hour. So, if you take 9 homeless bums who make $0 per hour and the lawyer the average pay for the group is $100 per hour. The average wage is ABSOLUTELY meaningless.

This is a typical tactic used by people with an agenda to prove some point or other and the crazy thing about it is that it still fools a lot of azzhats into believing the completely false xtrapolation of the stat.

So hardworking burger flippers should be denied property rights because you want to exclude criminal welfare bums?

Even so, criminal welfare bums are free to rent homes even where they're not allowed to buy homes, so why would you wnt to exclude them from owning even though you can't exclude them from renting?

Actually the BLS does report the median averages, not the mean. SO that means for the average wage, half of the country makes below that and half makes above it. Many ppl on here should actually know what they are talking about before posting...

This is rich, coming from someone who wants to use government to prevent me from buying a home from a willing seller.

FWIW it's red states that tend to tax rental property the most egregiously. Michigan is a blue state, but its egregious rental property tax was created by Republicans and approved by a 90%-homeowner electorate which was happy to vote for free money.

A lot of them, yes. Who voted for him?

Liberals are always complaining about so-called "greedy" corporations, usually having NO clue whatsoever that corporations are owned by stockholders a large part of which are pension funds, 401k's, IRA's etc., and it is THEY who get the profits.

The sad thing is you don't seem like a dumb person, just you are blinded by your absolutes.

You're not denied property rights. Buy elsewhere, or work more to earn more to buy in your current location.
