Public? A master's degree should be an automatic pay bump unless the position requires a master's degree at a minimum.

"It depends on....."

There is absolutely NO REASON why the average worker in the United States cannot live off of these wages.

In fact, with these wages, and when personal responsibility is factored into the equation, there's absolutely no reason for single-parent families, children born out of wedlock, Medicaid, WIC, Welfare, or Food Stamps.

The AVERAGE worker makes $49,462 per year and yet we have liberals belly-aching over minimum wage and people barely able to make ends meet???? Who's fault is that?!

Get off your lazy asses and DO SOMETHING with your unproductive lives! There's money to be made out there!

Am I correct in assuming by your moniker you live in DC? If so, you should realize $50k will not go far in this area. That is, if you want to live in a decent home or apartment, own a car, expect to eat, buy clothes and other necessities, and not have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Why are you LMAO? Why would anyone expect to land a job for which they're NOT QUALIFIED?

Why would anyone complain about a specified salary for a job when they only meet the MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS to have that job?

Nevermind, I know. It's the "Gimme, gimme, gimme, NOW!!!" liberal mindset.

Charter schools in this state do not have a unionized staff and are free to pay whatever the hell they want.

The median hourly wage is significantly less. It's about $17/hour. That's the number that matters. With a full-time job, that comes to about $35,000/year.

That's probably true, but do you have a source? I tried to find the individual median wage, but all I found was the median household wage and that came to $50K per household.

Yes. This is from 2011:

May 2011 National Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates

Look at "All Occupations" and then "Median hourly wage".

50k is fine in this area if you live frugally.
