I'm going to agree with much you have to say here.

1. "Greeniacs" -- actually, those that are for a greener planet don't like E85 or E15, which siphons off corn that should be used for food, to automobile consumption.
In general I believe this is true. Most of the hard core would prefer electric.

2. The " Marxist idiot in the white house" that you refer must have been George W. Bush, since it was his Administration that ushered in ethanol to be added to gasoline, to appease the corn lobby.
Once again, true. Not that this is an excuse to continue the failed idea.

3. The Washington Examiner piece uses extensive quotes from the American Petroleum Institute. Do we really think they are an objective unbiased source? Seems to me that they are as objective about adding ethanol to gasoline as the tobacco lobby is about linking cigarettes to cancer.
Mybe so but they are right here.

Snopes basicly debunks the OP's claims. 'According to Snopes, the EPA recommends that E15 should only be used in cars designed for Flex Fuels' and the Snopes piece says that the claims the OP is making is overblown.
I have to call a foul here. Snopes does not say it's overblown, it says that proponents of E15 says it's overblown. Would that be like asking the tobacco industry about cigarettes and cancer?

Also, by stating overblown not even the proponents are willing to say it's simply not true.

Lucky you, I have a 92 Buick Regal with 62K on it that is a nearly perfect condition that with the right fuel and care can easily go 200K. It's unfortunate that it's being rotted from the inside out.

Well E10 gunked up my trimmer and I learned my lesson.
No way will I use E15 in my small engine equipment.

My mileage sucks on E15 too. I did the math and it's not worth the savings even though it is cheaper. I only get about 15 MPG in the winter with E15. I can get 18+ (I drive a van) with regular gasoline. Interesting how this work. Replace 15% of gas with ethanol and I need to buy 17% more gas. E15 only costs about 5% less here. Exactly WHERE is the savings or reduction in emissions here???? So much for reducing our dependence on forign oil. AND this will cost me again, and hit the environment when I have to replace my van sooner.

Our BRILLIANT politicians at work once again (seriously, did ANYONE do the math and consider lower MPG with ethanol mixes?). I am, literally, buying just as much gas but now I'm wasting the ethanol...which is made from corn that could have been used to feed someone....Serious case of stupidity here.

There is no savings over regular gas, it costs more per gallon and has about 2/3 the energy content. Off the top of my head it's probably adding about 15 cents to the cost of each gallon of gas and that's only at 10%. The only reason it's used is becsue it's mandated by law.
