UN Human Rights Council submits their report.

Crimes against Humanity: Stealing Palestine’s Water Resources

Quote:
The Israeli national water company Mekorot undermines Palestinians’ access to water, according to a new report commissioned by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The report finds that deep water drillings by Mekorot and the Israeli agri-industrial firm Mehadrin in the occupied Jordan Valley have caused the drying up of Palestinian wells and springs. About 80 percent of all water drilled in this area is consumed by Israel and its illegal settlements in the West Bank.

The new report documents a clear pattern of discrimination against Palestinians. Whereas Palestinians living in most of the West Bank face “chronic shortages,” Israeli settlements enjoy a constant supply of water

What if this was going on in Germany to the Jews, don't you think somebody should do something about it? What if Israel had to recognize Palestine as a sovereign nation? What if Israel is occupying and subjugating that nation? Would that be a reason for the Palestinians to revolt? What can the Palestinains do?
What if everything you've been told about the Palestinians was a lie, and that they are the victims, not Israel.

It's hilarious, one web site posts something negative on the CBC (Currently Bad Country) and that information gets regurgitates around the world, all websites trusting their source has done the proper investigating to verify the story is correct... and none of them have..... (ya'll know, just like the posters here on C-D)

Grabbing my popcorn...

Is israel stealing water from the palestinians? israel is sharing, not stealing, water. it is giving its own water to palestinians in signifcantly greater quantities than it agreed to do under the oslo accords (40 percent more in 2008).

Nor does israel use west bank water. it uses the same water sources today that it used prior to 1967, and settlements are connected to israel’s national water system.

Furthermore, israel helped palestinians modernize the west bank’s water system between 1967 and 1995, helping triple the fresh water available (66 mcm per year to 180 mcm per year), and the number of towns connected to running water rose by over 7,600 percent (four to 309). today, water usage and planning are regulated by palestinians and israelis together in the joint water commission.

Israel is at the forefront of innovations in water sustainability and is a leader in seeking comprehensive, regional solutions to managing this vital but sparse resource.

This has been going on, and reported, for decades.
Seems that the Israelis can do no wrong.

To add to the above Israel has had significant rainfall this year and it is main source of water the Sea of Galilee is way above its normal level.

Heck we have that going on here in the good ole USA as well.
Alcoa is one fine example of drilling and using enough water that neighboring private wells go dry.
Sprawling subdivisions popping up outside city limits are another. 500 homes where there used to be one and neighboring wells are now going dry in the summer.

Thanks chiel, that article is from 2009. So this has been known about for years, and nobody, including the UN does squat about it.

Teacher and father-of-seven Bassam Qdah has built a concrete water tank to collect rain water in his home in the village of Shukba.
The Israeli army has told him it will be demolished because it was built without a permit.
"We have seven young children," he told Amnesty researchers, "and even if we use it sparingly, we still need quite a bit of water.
"Why would they want to demolish this small cistern? It does not bother anyone and is on my land."

plwhit, you want to paint Israel as the generous caretaker or benefactor, when the truth is they are the enemy of these people. They are the prison guards and Palestine is a prison camp. Palestianians can do nothing without asking permission. I would not want my enemy in charge of such dire basic elements for my survival.

Yeah it's the fault of Isreal that Palistinians haven't spent money on developing their water delivery infrastructure.

How bout we give control of all the water in California back to the Indians.

They'd never get the permit! Israel would just blow it up anyway.

Hey, aren't you the person that repeatedly says "it's none of our business what other countries do"?

Wierd how you have a country that you always make an exception for.
