For the 17 people in the U.S. who do not understand:
Disclosure laws vary within and across states.
Owners, not their listing agents, complete the disclosures.
Most states do not require the owner to disclose if a death or murder occured in the house.
If asked, the owner is required to respond based on what they know.
Grandma passing away is bit different than someone getting their head blown off by a shotgun. I can understand not having to disclose the house was the site of a natural death but if the death was part of a crime scene it's a whole other story because it's going to have a drastic effect on the value of the house just for starters.

Then the people of that state need to push to change the law. I have never purchased a house without submitting a set of questions drawn up by my realestate lawyer and myself, aside of what the state law requires. Binding in a court of law if they lie or misrepresent. Dont want to answer the questions, then you dont get the sale.

That is the point of a full disclosure law, the seller and agent should of disclosured that information and now the buyer will win that lawsuit. Maybe next time the agent will know to fully disclosure everything about a property.

Please explain to me why revealing that a murder/ suicide has to do with the structure, plumbing, electricity etc, of an inanimate object.
The house didn't kill anybody.
I guess I should have disclosed while living in my house for 45 years every occurrence where someone got a boo boo that occurred in the house.
I can see the list now: my son fell down and scraped his knee, 12 times.
I tripped over a hose, once.
Unless you believe the ghosts of those that died will come back and haunt you, I think it is ridiculous.
