Monday marked the deadline set in law for President Obama to submit a budget, but he missed it — making this the fourth time in his five years in office that he's failed to submit the blueprint on time.
That makes his record equal to the three previous presidents combined, who spanned 20 years in office.
White House press secretary Jay Carney defended the administration, telling reporters traveling with the president to Minnesota for a speech about gun control Monday to focus on "substance over deadlines."
Mr. Carney declined to say when Mr. Obama will present a budget.
Didn't Cheney say Reagan proved deficits don't matter?
Context is key. At what deficit level was he speaking? If i'm not mistaken, the question was being asked when the U.S. was running a mere $300 BILLION deficit. That's a far cry from $1.4 TRILLION.
Personally, I believe that Cheney's words have been vastly over-used by the left. Indeed, running a $200 monthly household budget deficit is far different than a $20,000 monthly household budget deficit, right? But you wouldn't continue to run that $20,000 deficit unabated even though your opinion of a $200 deficit was "OK," would you??
Most people would have a change of heart. But no, not liberals. They see deficits as in no way problematic. And that's why Barack Obama submits a budget that not even Democrats can support and Harry Reid refuses to submit a budget at all.

They're problematic, we're just not going to cut the deficit exactly how conservatives want to.
Bush doubled the national debt. Reagan tripled the national debt.

WHAT? Obama fails to follow the law? Maybe he will just pen himself another executive order?
Of course if it's anything like the LAST budget he submitted, no one in congress liked it OR approved it, not even his own vice president. .
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush signed legislation that Congress approved on Friday to temporarily keep the federal government functioning after failing, for the ninth straight year, to pass annual spending bills before the start of the new fiscal year.
The Senate voted by voice to continue federal programs through Nov. 18 while the two chambers work on unfinished spending bills. With the 2005 budget year ending at midnight Friday, Congress has passed and the president signed only two of 11 appropriations bill that provide money for health, education, defense, foreign affairs, homeland security and other government programs.
The House passed what is called a "continuing resolution" on Thursday.
Well now, today was the last day he had to propose his budget and he probably figured that even Democrats have failed to vote for the one he proposed so why waste his time. Oh yes, he has missed the final date, again.
