Gas was $3.89 the other day. That's really not bad.

By the way, the stock market is at a near-record high. Thank you, Mr. Obama!

When gas went to $4 a gallon in the Bush years it was astronomical .. and guess what. Bush brought it down with more exploration and more permits to drill on government land. Obama has cut the permits and actually wants our gas prices to rise to European prices which is now $10 a gallon..

The wholesale price of gas in Europe isn't much different than here - it's the taxes. Think about it - they are closer to Saudi than us.

They can't raise the prices and accomplish what they want here. They did it backwards and we have a different population density. I lived in the UK long ago on a temporary assignment. In the area I lived there was constant bus and car service (taxi) available. We yanks from San Fran fit right into the lifestyle. We had a guy from Los Angles there and he struggled because he was raised in the sprawl. Many of the men were on rigorous schedules determined by the bus schedule. In the US, many people work late because their car gives them freedom and flexibility. In the UK missing a bus might mean getting home an hour later. They are very prompt and punctual there.

The only way mass transit can replace cars is to offer a comparative advantage over cars. It won't happen without a major cultural shift. We have enough oil to drive for decades. Simple economics. I'm not opposed to higher gas taxes if it was actually spent on roads and projects associated with making the life of car owners better. Instead it's siphoned off on pet projects.

Gas Prices Hit All-Time Record High For Early February---Thank You Obama

Don't worry. I am sure the GOP House is working on a bill, that will help bring down the price of gas, right now.

Oh wait! They went on vacation and don't really care anyway!

The higher the cost of fueling the 18 wheelers the higher the shipping costs and that cost is always passed on to the consumer. That is why we are having the cost of food go up. Shipping costs will always play a part in the cost to the consumer since trucks move the freight. We will be hit hard with every item we buy goes higher.

The real problem with your proposed law is that Dirty Harry won't allow the Senate to even debate the bill. Of course, you don't know that the Senate just doesn't want anything good for we the people unless it works for I Won.

A trucker told me long ago that rising fuel prices don't affect him, at all. If the price to refuel goes up while the truck is on the way he just raise his price to the customer. Most of those city dwellers who don't have to drive will never see that happening to them. The funniest part of all this one, since you are talking about food, is that even if federal law doesn't allow truckers to go on strike like union workers, what happens in city food stores if all of them go on vacation at the same time. Fools from the leaner side of things just don't see any of this as possible.

What bills have the House proposed?

The GOP House is full of nothing but excuses for accomplishing nothing.

They'll just let a few more illegals in to keep costs down. You might lose your job, but don't worry -there is always food stamps.
