A Northern Virginia man on Wednesday admitted to the politically motivated shooting of an unarmed security guard last summer at the downtown Washington headquarters of a conservative lobbying organization.

Floyd Lee Corkins II, 28, acknowledged in court documents made public Wednesday that he “intended to kill as many people as possible” when he opened fire in the lobby of the Family Research Council offices in August 2012.

Corkins pleaded guilty in the District’s federal court to a federal charge of transporting a firearm across state lines and to D.C. charges of assault with intent to kill and committing an act of terriorism while armed.

New details also emerged about Corkins’s methodical plans in the days before the shooting in the 800 block of G Street Northwest.

Corkins told FBI agents who interviewed him that day that he “intended to kill as many people as possible” and to “smother Chick-fil-A sandwiches in their faces,” according to the plea agreement Corkins signed in December.

Why make things up? Show me one person who has claimed mass shooters are all right wing nutjobs? In fact, the only threads I bet you'll find here claim the exact opposite, that all the shooters are left wingers.

You mean the one where an actual politician was targeted and shot? Are you that surprised some commented on it being politically motivated?

Oh look: Here was another example of trying to blame a mass shooting on the right:

I'm referring to the out pouring of attacks of blaming the tea party and "right talk radio", even when it was clear that the shooter wasn't motivated at all by it.

And what has been the debunked story since then, trumpeted by numerous right wing blogs and "news" sources? That he was an Obama campaigner and a member of occupy wall street.
