Duke students rally against anti-Asian frat party - U.S. News

Duke University Kappa Sigma Fraternity Draws Accusations Of Racism With 'Asia Prime' Party

An email promoting the party features the puppet character of former Korean leader Kim Jong-Il from "Team America: World Police" and reads "Herro Nice Duke Peopre" in a misspelling intended to convey an east Asian accent.

Students at Duke University in Durham, N.C., gathered Wednesday to protest anti-Asian prejudice after a fraternity hosted a "racist rager" party last week replete with literature that lampooned Asian students.

The rally was planned after Kappa Sigma fraternity — which was allowed to return to campus last year after having dissolved in 2002 amid a misconduct investigation — threw a theme party Friday at which attendees dressed up in stereotypical Asian costumes, the campus newspaper, The Chronicle, reported.

"Something is deeply wrong with Duke. Something is deeply wrong with our community," a representative of the association said at the gathering Wednesday afternoon. "... This protest is about the destructive prejudice that must be uprooted from every corner of Duke to make this place an inclusive and safe place for all."

The good news for the OP:When you start off your day each and every day looking for an opportunity to somehow be offended or made to feel like a victim your chances of success are extremely high!

Wow, you sure did a nice job of strawmanning my positions while tying it to the GOP and calling me a "righty"....and then decrying my commentary that SOME people try to use it to score political points.

Um, thanks for proving my point via one of the stupidest posts I've read here in quite some time. Your ability to dishonestly portray my commentary in a flurry of political mudslinging indicates you might make a fine politician some day.

P.S. I'm one of the social liberal yet fiscal conservative posters around here so I chuckle everytime I mentally stymie the weakminded rwnjs and lwnjs around here and they flail wildly with thier labels and accusations.

When I was in college in the early 1980's we had three of the black football players show up at our fraternity halloween costume party wearing full KKK outfits. We got the joke.

What's new? Fraternities at certain schools are known for this kind of thing. These students usually come from ignorant and uncultured backgrounds, so it's quite easy for them to do these things without a thought. I remember at my school they painted racial slurs against Hispanics all over the frat bridge during Hispanic Heritage Month. Two frats were suspended. They did other stuff directed at other minorities as well. This is the same old, same old. This is what plenty minorities have to deal with while working towards a college education. Such as life.

Nonsense. Not even other blacks are safe at the Greek (Frat) Festival in Philly....what you're refering to are hoodlums that happen to be black who will terrorize anyone.
