I am at a loss to understand who any self-respecting person who was so blood and guts on GWBs indefinite detainment in GITMO can now be so utterly docile. You guys were ready to impeach and imprison GWB for war crimes related to GITMO and holding these guys with no charges etc.

The conclusion is that yes it was a political tool to most of the people who spoke the loudest. The people who truly cared know that Dem or Repub it's all the same. With that whether they voted for least of the worst, Independent or whom they side with they will see further than the presented illusion.
