Air travel was certainly much more pleasant (and cheaper) when they were closely regulated. Initially deregulation brought competition and price reductions, more airlines and routes. Over time though mergers and out-right collusion have made air travel both difficult and expensive.
HUH???
back when it was regulated...air travel was only for the rich
air travel is cheaper than it has ever been...the only thing keeping the costs up are the price of FUEL

I'm just wondering if the Airlines should just be Nationalized? They don't seem to be able to operate profitably, so make them non profit.
No, to nationalization. Why would someone want the government, the taxpayers, us, to foot the bill if an airline company/service fails financially? I believe in the free market system. People will support companies which satisfy a need and provide a service or goods to do that. Supply and demand controls the marketplace. If we're unhappy with a particular airline ... we shouldn't patronize or otherwise support it. Let it fail.

correct...which is why if GM couldnt compete...they should have been left to fail, or break up into smaller companies

Which part of the Constitution prohibits us from nationalizing anything?
Seriously? The fact you would even ask such a ridiculous question shows your understanding of the Constitution is seriously flawed. It isn't a carte blanche affirmative grant of powers subject to a few exceptions, rather it specifies the few and limited powers the federal government has.

tried that, didn't work
Here is the deal
1) airlines should make a profit
2) if they don't they should die
3) when they die, someone will do it better and make a profit
End lesson
