Just for the record, none of these programs were started in "Daddy O's" administration; I find it interesting how Rebublicans fight so damn hard to eliminate them.
Oh, the give them "lip-service"...but they really dont want these programs gone. The only Republicans rialing against these programs are the "talk show" type. Makes for great revenue ratings but crappy public policy.

The context of the article posted by the OP is this. Taken directly from the article:
1. Rock joined celebrities Tony Bennett and Amanda Peet at an event on Capitol Hill for Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
2. “The President and the First Lady are kind of like the mom and the dad of the country,” Rock said at a press conference. “And when your dad says something, you listen. And when you don’t, it usually bites you in the ass later on. So I’m here to support the president.”
3. Rock, who also called the president “our boss,”.........
The event was sponsored by Bloombergs' advocacy group. Chris Rock was invited to speak at the event for a reason. Speculate all you want about the reason, but my assumption is that he (and other entertainers) provided "star power" to the event, and many citizens respond to "star power". Additionally, entertainers get face time in the news. In this case the entertainers recevied coverage and therefore so did the event.
Rock used the "parental authority" card. Listen to mom and dad. They know what's best for you, and if don't listen to mom and dad, bad things could happen.
Rock called the president our boss. Obama is not our boss. We are Obamas' boss.
Chris Rock can say anything he wants in his capacity as an entertainer. That's what he gets paid for. But the CONTEXT of this episode is that he was not entertaining. He was advocating. It's still a free country and he can advocate as a private citizen for whatever causes he believes in. But to dismiss his appearance as "you silly conservatives - don't you know the guy is just a comedian" is dishonest and inaccurate.
