And that is what this law does because violating it would be a criminal act.

Which is exactly the case with thousands of other firearms related legislation. Unfortunately, those laws aren't well enforced, which is why those of us with common sense don't see the point of new laws that are not likely to be well enforced. What it comes down to is that the New York law is an ex post facto law, meaning that it turns people who were law abiding citizens at the time of its passage into criminals just because they own something that others don't feel that they should own.

If you truly think that the newest New York gun ban is a good law, I hold little hope for your ability to function in any position that requires common sense or critical thinking. I'm not sure what you do for a living, but try to stay away from heavy machinery, driving, or any of the hundreds of other activities that require decision making. You aren't equipped to meet the requirements, IMHO.

About those"law abiding citizens"...everyone who`s behind bars was a law abiding citizen at one time.

How many of those is the government behind? I bet you the one in Wisconsin and the shooting in Colorado wasn't the doing of 1 person and the government had no hand in it. Witnesses saw 4 in Wisconsin and 2 in Colorado yet we aren't given the entire story. Its a scam.

It isn't a question of people being tired of seeing bodies hauled away, or of people not believing that something should be done in order to prevent these things from happening. The debate centers over what that "something" should be. Passing useless laws that don't address the cause of crime is idiotic. Enacting restrictions that make sure that the average individual will be unable to defend their family or self from an attacker is idiotic. Passing an ex post facto law that turns the average citizen into a criminal is illegal. Blaming an inanimate object for the actions of humans is retarded.

Thinking assault weapons play no role in mass murders isn`t retarded? What`s wrong with a person who feels he has no freedom if he can`t gun down 50 people in a movie theater in less than a minute? Jim,what laws are being discussed that would leave you unable to defend your family?

It is completely retarded thinking banning "assault weapon" would stop or even reduce mass murders.

People are getting tired of seeing bodies hauled out precisely because the media keep reporting this kind of crime. Mass murder is news worthy while Joe Law Abiding Citizen stopping a mass murderer is not.

Mass murder is an extremely rare event (wink wink, news worthy). In the big picture of all crimes, it doesn't even occupy a percentage point.

By the way, you may want to check your facts as I recall, most mass murders are completely falsified news - how can a mass murder with guns happen in the Gun Free Zone? Maybe it's time to remove the gun free zone.
