The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.
Federal law trumps state law.

I'd like to see the same standards that are given to freedom of speech given to the right to keep and bear arms. The right to free speech includes just about anything short of yelling "fire" in a movie theater. It includes the unnecessary to have sex in front of a movie camera and sell the film.
The right to bear arms is a natural right that the government only recognizes. It does not grant that right. The burden to limit the type of firearm lies heavily on the government to make its case.
We all know that this is really about an attempt to ban all guns, hence "Saturday night special" bans, shotgun bans in England, the total ban of guns in Australia, etc. So -- no ban on magazines or you'll just move on to something else after that.
Whoa! As a PS, I just noticed that you said that federal law trumps state law. Look at the Constitution.
Amendment X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The rights of the federal government are limited and are specifically spelled out in the Constitution. You have it backwards.
