The government is our government. The government is made up of people. What's this business about pretending or treating govt as if it were some sort of 3 headed green monster that is unrelated to us? Sheesh.

Because there is always economic deadweight loss that comes with government action over private sector. Government acting instead of a private sector counterpart always costs society more than the private sector alone.

Here is a very basic explanation of the economics behind it.

Lots of people have these things happen to them, but they manage to stay off welfare.

BS. The private sector is a piranha, sucking up what it can from those who have no power, and filling the pockets of its owner with wealth. How can that be efficiency? At least govt I can vote in. Where do I have the vote with the predatory private sector? I don't. Besides, govt provides services I use - services of all kinds, from welfare for those who need it, to highways, to whatever.

PLEASE, PEOPLE, STOP PRETENDING THE GOVERNMENT IS A 3-HEADED MONSTER NOT MADE UP OF PEOPLE.

Oh yeah? The only people I personally know of who went on welfare and food stamps were about the most right wing people I've ever known, and I told the story about them on another thread. Real scumbuckets, that family, evangelical, typical haters of the poor, but there they were, with their hands out the moment they were in dire straits. Hypocrites, all.

Maybe because it is a 3 headed green monster that just keeps growing and growing and growing.

Here's a thought... STOP buying anything that isn't absolutely necessary for your survival. Don't feed a system you don't believe in. That means no internet for you. See ya!
