I'm just not seeing that. Look at the average effective federal income tax rates here and explain to me exactly how the wealthy are favored. Their effective tax rate is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than that of the middle class (top 25-50%):
Summary of Latest Federal Income Tax Data

Top 1%: 23.39% effective tax rate
Top 25-50%: 6.01% effective tax rate

How does that favor the wealthy?

Oh BS. I know what Republicans donate. A day serving bad food at a homeless shelter, and whatever trinkets, old clothes, and crap they were going to throw away anyway.

How do you know the majority abuse?
Hey, I never said all! But that's the problem. I'm sure there are individuals on the right who would like to use the abuse as a justification to end safety nets altogether, and that's not the solution. Doing that will cause civil unrest. A good 50% of our population is on some type of assistance now. The "cuts" will come naturally when the system implodes. It's not sustainable. But as far as something being done politically, it's a safe bet that will never happen.

The government is NOT society. "Helping your own" means people giving on an individual basis, not through a government program or tax.

It doesn't. But the jealous people on this board think that a few anecdotes makes the rule.

Even population growth does not support such a huge increase in spending. Government spending has grown from 7% of GDP to over 40% in the last century.

But at least they give of their OWN time and resources. Dems think stealing from hard working tax payers is charity.

Absolutely true. That's why we have charities and that's why friends and families help each other.

Is it possible for you to put any LESS effort into an opinion? I am not guessing, it is a proven fact that conservatives give a greater percentage of their income to charities than liberals. Looking at the numbers (not personal opinions), households with a liberal head of house earn on average 6% more than households with a conservative head. Despite that fact, households with a conservative head give 30% more to charities than liberals.

Saritaschihuahua - the facts don't back up what you are saying. It is a proven fact that conservatives donate more of their personal income to those in need than liberals do. As a side note, what percentage of your personal salary do you give to charities every year?
