Because it's a law against a legislative body doing what legislative bodies do--proposing legislation. Legislatures represent the people in proposing and passing laws that are intended to benefit the people. Obviously, not all such proposals are of benefit to everyone, but it is of benefit to discuss such proposals. This idiot representative is proposing to stop all discussion. Which negates the purpose of legislatures. That's why we have debates on the floors of legislatures. To determine if a piece of legislation is good or not.

They really should have built some mechanism for dealing with unconstitutional laws into the constitution. Maybe like a court of some "supreme" standing or something.

That has been "altered" in its meaning over the years to serve exactly the opposite of its original intent.
When the 2nd was written, the 14th did not exist yet and therefore didn't apply to states, who had a right to regulate.

Heller doesn't apply to the states, as DC is a federal city.

Since the 2nd states "a well regulated militia," who was expected to regulate that militia?

Oh, such legislation is patently unconstitutional. You can't right a law that makes it illegal for a legislature do its job, namely to write and repeal legislation.
I suppose the left wing then has gone off the rails and is afraid of actual debate given the speech codes and fairness doctrine they support.

Whether it's intentional or not, he does make an ironic point that I think you missed.

I like the bill, but the punishment should be hanging for treason.

I know, talking about it can be a conspiracy to treason.
Many men in history have been murdered, over their words, by the king.

The constitution as composed, does give the people the right to punish the government, for trying to infringe on my uninfringable right.

How does freedom of speech apply to introducing legislation?

Hahahaa, I almost spit out my drink...

I think this is a stupid law, I'm willing to bet this was thrown out there just to show how stupid some of the laws the left is proposing...
