None. Extenuating, contributing circumstances should always be considered. I'm not sure we should be modeling our criminal justice system after China and "Other countries"
Its interesting that you would say this especially as it says you live in Connecticut. The innocent kids at Sandy Hook were killed for doing absolutely nothing.....and yet you will take the time to CONSIDER whether Adam Lanza should be killed? The victims were not given any "exentuating circumstances" on whether they deserved to die were they>
Lycos whether PLanned Parenthood commits first degree murder of a child is a discussion for another thread.........for this thread let's assume the child has been born already.
I voted for everything except treason/espionage. I also voted other because I would not have a problem giving the death penalty to people that are guilty of raping a person of any age.

It would not be modeling itself after the Chinese system. That's like saying that we shouldn't have any speed limites because China does and we don't want to model ourselves after their highway system.
Are there any crimes for which you think the death penalty should be mandatory, like in most other countries? Or in lieu of that if you are on a jury you will give the death penalty when a person is found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of these crimes?????
No and no. I oppose any form of government mandated executions for any reason.
Some Asian countries also have a mandatory death penalty for posesssion over a certain amount of illegal drugs which I don't think should be a capital crime. Also drug trafficking alone make someone ELGIBLE for the death penalty in many Asian countries including I think Taiwan and Japan which are democracies.
China and the Middle East countries don't have due process which is a problem with their capital punishment system. I don't know about India and where they compare to us. In the US we are very good at due process and rights even compared to European countries in giving a fair trial and presumed innocence. Look at the Amanda Knox case in Italy that was not a capital case but if showed how bad the European justice system is compared to the American one. We have the death penalty but we are also better in deciding definite guilt especially with more DNA technologies now. Again if I am not 100% convinced of someones guilty I will not convict them let alone sentence them to death....I'm talking about cases beyond a reasonable doubt like there is a confession in court (so they can't say it was coerced), video footage, etc etc

I meant bombing an abortion clinic should have a death penalty attached to it.
