Last I checked with the exception of the 15 republics that sought independence the Russian Federation still comprises the largest land area in the world. And considering that with the exception of the Ukraine, Latvia, and Lithuania got the better end of the bargain.
But that aside, 100 troops advising and training against Muslim extremist seems like a better bargain that 48,000 troops in Germany.
