But most of them democrats. If you look at any old pix of the day, plenty of white women out there screaming, no doubt racial slurs, at those brave black folks who attempted to cross "the line", whatever it may have been at the time.
These were just college kids. I guess I'm so accustomed to Americans being apathetic that I can't fathom that a bunch of 18 year olds would risk their lives for a cause. I really recommend watching it.
That's because your average young person today can't even carry on a conversation as they're too busy staring into a phone.
And I would bet if you asked any of them about the Civil Rights movement and the Freedom Riders they wouldn't have a clue as to what you were talking about or even Google it.
America was not always the apathetic mess it is today.

In 1961 I was 11 years old and old enough to understand what they were doing and followed them closely. I had already faced racial hatred at that young age as a mixed blood American Indian.
The Freedom Rider's may have been young but they knew full well what they were doing, they were fighting for a better world. The younger generations have never had to face segregation thanks to the Freedom Riders.
